Why the Exterior Coating Matters for Distribution Box Enclosures

The enclosure is an important part of a distribution box. Its exterior coating deserves careful attention during manufacture and inspection.

Coating colour and appearance

The enclosure can be finished with an electrostatically applied powder coating in the colour requested by the customer. The coating should adhere firmly and have an even colour, without wrinkles, peeling, spots or uncoated areas. Noticeable differences in colour or gloss should be avoided.

The finished surface should be smooth and clean, without dents, scratches or other damage.

Other plated components

Other plated parts used in the enclosure should also be free from peeling, spots, missed plating and rust. Their visible finish should meet the same general quality expectations.

Internal cleanliness

The inside of the distribution box should be clean. Apart from the documentation, spare parts and accessories supplied to the customer or required by applicable specifications, the enclosure should contain no loose objects or dust.
